Jim Wallace sings the lead
for Higher Ground. He is married to Doneda and has three children and one
grandchild. He is the Director of Operations for Coles-Moultrie Electric Co-Op
and is an Elder in his home church. Jim has been known throughout the Central
Illinois region as a soloist and regularly ministered through music at area
revivals before singing with Higher Ground. Jim enjoys riding his goldwing and
is looking forward to seeing his grandchild. He is a founding member of Higher
Ground.
Steve Wheeler sings the
tenor for Higher Ground. He is originally from Macon, Georgia and relocated to
Illinois in the spring of 1992. He is married to Kim and has two children and
two grandchildren. Steve is the Technology Coordinator for the Cumberland
School District. He sang in various groups at his home church in Georgia and
has led music in several revival services since moving to Illinois. Steve was
also a forming member of Higher Ground. He enjoys spending time with his
grandchildren.
Brad Groves sings the bass
for Higher Ground. He is married to Susan and they have four children and two
grandchildren. Brad is a Renovation Specialist at Eastern Illinois University
and also farms. Brad was brought up in a musical family and was singing at an
early age. He is a sound engineer in his home church. Brad enjoys riding his
horses and spending time with his grandchildren.
Ben Smith
sings the baritone for Higher Ground. He is recently married to Krystle and has
two dogs. Ben has an AA in Criminal Justice Administration from Parkland
College. He is a Customer Sales Distributor for Schwan’s. Ben’s talents
include playing the banjo, mandolin, and guitar. Ben is very involved in his
home church with the music and serves as Sunday School Superintendent. In his
free time, Ben likes to hunt and fish.
